Jesus’ parable of The Prodigal Son is famous for a number of reasons. Most of us focus on the “prodigal” side of the story because…well, who doesn’t like a good scandal? But the most important word in the phrase is actually “son”. We don’t understand that in our modern culture, but there is some rich theology packed into that term for all who follow Jesus – men and women.
