In English the word “love” is used almost exclusively as the only way in which we describe positive emotion. We love coffee. We love football. We love summer time. We love our spouse. Our word “love” is so broad and yet so limited. And our understanding is limited as well. The way Jesus teaches “love” is far beyond how we understand it in our culture. It is audacious and transformative. Biblical love makes no sense to those who don’t follow Jesus. And it is something we don’t see in the world around us, even from those who wear the label “Christian”. Have you experienced giving others Biblical love?
